SEF 2012

  • The 2012 Social Entrepreneurship Forum took place on November 8-9, 2012 at the Stockholm School of Economics in Riga (SSER). It was organised by the Soros Foundation – Latvia in partnership with the SSER, British Council in Riga and supported by the Representation of the European Commission – Latvia.

    The forum brought together the social entrepreneurs community from the Baltic States, addressed the issues of their interests and concern and initiated the dialogue with the state on contribution of social entrepreneurship in society and potential legal framework and public support.

    Altogether the forum was attended by over 180 participants, including social entrepreneurs and decision-makers from Estonia and Lithuania. It featured such international speakers as Emmanuel Vallens, policy coordinator, European Commission, DG Internal Market and Services, Single Market Policy, Micheal Pyner, Social Economy International (Ireland), Jonathan Bland, Social Business International (UK and Finland), Antti Kaarjalainen British Council, Finland, etc. Latvian decision-makers were represented by two ministers -the Minister of Welfare and Minister of Education-, officials from both ministries, and a Member of Parliament.
